Nov. 6: PFM Seattle Visits Raw Meat Roller Skating!

Join us Nov. 6 from 7 to 9 at Thunderbird Community Centre, as Raw Meat Vancouver welcomes PFM Seattle!

PFM (Potential Fresh-Meat) is a roller-skating sports club in Seattle. In operation for several years now, PFM teaches women how to roller skate and how to play roller derby. PFM is an independent organization but many PFMers go on to play with the many derby leagues in Seattle (Rat City, Tilted-Thunder, Emerald City).

When Raw Meat was just starting out, we looked up to PFM as a role model. When PFM heard about Raw Meat starting up they invited four of us to come down and skate with them. Since then PFM and Raw Meat has had a strong relationship and both groups stay in close contact. PFM has been an immense help in giving tips and advice to help the growth of Raw Meat.

On Nov. 6, members of PFM will visit our Raw Meat roller skating session, and will share some of their drills and tips. Afterward, we’re going to party!

As usual, our session will be $7, and we require full safety gear (helmets, mouth guards, wrist, elbow and knee pads). Skates of all levels are welcome!

This will be a very special session of Raw Meat, and I hope to see all of you there.

If you just can’t get enough of PFM, we are also hosting a few special events throughout the weekend. First, on Friday evening, please come to the public skate at Central City Arena from 7 to 9. It’s right outside Surrey Central Skytrain. After skating, we’ll head across the street to Central City Brewing. After that, who knows?

On Saturday afternoon, we may hit the Sin Bin (295 West 2nd) to watch the WFTDA National Championships. If weather permits, we might also get in a seawall skate. Check out the Raw Meat twitter feed or Facebook page for confirmation. Then, from 7 to 9, it’s Raw Meat Skating time! After our skate, we’ll head downtown for a bite and a beverage at Malone’s and/or the Railway Club.

Please join us!
