All hopped up on Cadbury mini eggs with nowhere to go? Come burn off your sugar rush at Raw Meat Roller Skating this Saturday! There’s nothing like a little roller skating to get you in the holiday mood. Your hot cross buns will be burning by the time we finish our workout. We’ll have a few sweet treats for you this session, never fear.
No matter what level of skating experience you have, from total beginner to total hotshot, you are most welcome at Raw Meat. We cover all of the basic roller skating skills that you need to try out for a roller derby league, including stops, falls, jumps, backwards skating, agility, transitions, crossovers, and more—plus games!
All skaters must bring roller skates, helmet, mouth guard, and wrist, elbow and knee pads. Unfortunately, we don’t have any gear for rent. If you are looking for a great place to get roller skates and derby gear in town, try www.rollergirl.ca. Rollergirl also rents gear, so you can give skating a try without commitment. This is a great option if you are just in town for the weekend! Rent some skates, and come play with us.
Thunderbird also requires that all skaters have white or light toe stoppers, and put strips of white tape (vertically, not horizontally) on your knee pads, or cover them with felt or socks. This is to help avoid marking the floor.
Sessions are $7. Exact change is appreciated.
Important announcement! Upcoming schedule change
Raw Meat Vancouver Roller Skating will continue to be at Thunderbird Community Centre from 5-7 PM on Saturdays until April 9. Starting on April 16, we move to Royal City Curling Club, 75 East 6th Avenue in New Westminster from 10 AM to noon. We’ll be there all summer, until August 27. Sessions at RCCC will be $12.
Raw Meat sessions are always non-contact. We have only two rules: 1. Be safe, 2. Don’t be an ass-hat.
See you Saturday!
