December 13: Mincemeat!

rawmeatxmastree_web
Dashing round the track
Like a roller derby girl
O’er the floor we go,
Racing all the way
Skates on newbies shine,
Barely broken in,
What fun it is to skate and sing,
A derby song tonight.
Oh, wristguards smell, wristguards smell,
Stinking all the way,
Oh, what fun it is to roll,
Like a roller derby girl

Happy Holidays, everyone! We’ve just got two more roller skating sessions in 2014, so please join us to get your seasonal skate on!

We’ll be here Dec. 13 and 20, and then we take a two-week break, and we’re back as usual on January 10—so there’s no excuse to wuss out on your New Year’s derby-lutions!

Since this is the traditional session for mincemeat tarts, we’re going cook up our own version, Raw Meat style! We’re going to go through some skating form drills that will turn your thighs to delicious, delicious mincemeat. These speed skating drills are perfect for beginners, to help you develop good form and stride right from the get-go. However, no matter how experienced you are, you can’t practice these basic drills enough. In short, no matter who you are, come play! We’ll get you roller skating in style in no time.

What to bring to Raw Meat Roller Skating:

All skaters need to bring:

Roller skates, with white or light non-marking toestops.
Helmet.
Mouth Guard.
Wrist, elbow and knee pads. Please cover black knee pads with white tape or felt covers, to avoid marking the floors.
$7 (exact change is appreciated!)

Our rules:

1. Be safe.
2. Don’t be an ass-hat.

See you Saturday!
