There are a bunch of things that I mentioned on Saturday that I said I’d post, and here they are. I hope I haven’t forgotten any of them. Let me know if I did!

WFTDA Sanctioned Bout: TCRG All Stars Vs. Jet City

On Saturday Feb. 9, come to Central City Arena to see the TCRG’s All Stars take on Everett’s Jet City Bombers at 10:30 PM. The bout will likely sell out, so get there early! Central City’s public skate runs from 8 to 10, so come early and skate before the bout.

When: Saturday, Feb. 9,
Where: 0240 City Parkway, Surrey, BC, Canada (right next to Surrey Central Skytrain–look for the big blue box of a building)
When: doors at 10, whistle at 10:30,
How much: $15 at the door

Public Skate at Central City Arena

Every Saturday from 8 to 10 PM, there is public roller skating at Central City Arena, complete with laser lights and music. If you don’t have skates yet, roller skate rentals are available at the Arena. Click here for a full review, or visit the Central City Arena webiste.

After Raw Meat on Saturday, head to the public skate, get your groove on for a couple of hours, and then stay to watch the bout.

New WFTDA Rules

The rules of roller derby changed slightly in 2013. If you haven’t read the new rules yet, here they are.

The biggest change? There are no more minor penalties!

Beginner Skating Exercises

If you are thinking of getting roller skates, check out this article for some exercises that you can do when you first strap on your skates to get comfortable, and make sure that you can stop safely.
