Raw Meat Roller Skating March 28: Out Like a Lion
Awww, shucks. Just when it was looking like seawall skating weather was upon us, this terrible rain rolls in. Boo! However, you can still enjoy a couple of hours of roller skating on Saturday if you join us from 5-7 PM at Thunderbird Community Centre. Why wouldn’t you want to join us?
We’ll work on stops, falls, jumps, transitions, weaving, agility, and more. It’s everything you need to conquer the seawall—or the derby track.
Skaters of all abilities are welcome. If you are complete beginner, never fear. We’ll get you started safely on your roller skating journey. If you are a roller skating expert, then come show us some tricks!
All skaters must bring roller skates, helmet, mouth guard, and wrist, elbow and knee pads. Unfortunately, we don’t have any gear for rent. If you are looking for a great place to get roller skates and derby gear in town, try www.rollergirl.ca.
Thunderbird also requires that all skaters have white or light toe stoppers, and put strips of white tape (vertically, not horizontally) on your knee pads, or cover them with felt or socks. This is to help avoid marking the floor.
Sessions are $7. Exact change is appreciated.
Important announcement! Upcoming schedule change
Raw Meat Vancouver Roller Skating will continue to be at Thunderbird Community Centre from 5-7 PM on Saturdays until April 11. Starting on April 18, we move to Royal City Curling Club, 75 East 6th Avenue in New Westminster from 10 AM to noon. We’ll be there all summer, until August 22. Sessions at RCCC will be $12. In the fall, we’ll return to Thunderbird Community Centre.
Raw Meat sessions are always non-contact. We have only two rules: 1. Be safe, 2. Don’t be an ass-hat.
See you Saturday!
