Raw Meat Roller Skating Feb. 28: In Like a Lamb

Gung Hay Fat Choy, my little lambs! It’s the Year of the Sheep! What better time could there be to flock to Raw Meat roller skating? If you are new to roller skates, the first few times you strap them on, you will feel like a new-born lamb taking her first steps. But, it won’t be long before you’ll be gamboling about as confident and sure-footed as a mountain goat.

At Raw Meat Vancouver Roller Skating, we learn roller-derby style roller skating. If you are thinking of joining a local roller derby league, spring is the perfect time to start learning. This will give you all summer to practice before the local leagues have tryouts in the fall.

If you are an experienced roller skater who just hasn’t been out much lately, what are you waiting for? Now is the perfect time to brush up your skating skills before the seawall gets truly beautiful for skating. Whether it’s your first time on roller skates or your hundred thousandth, you are always welcome at Raw Meat.

At Raw Meat, you’ll learn a variety of roller skating skills including skating form, crossovers, backwards skating, agility, weaving, skating with others, pace lines, jumps, stops, falls, carving and more. You’ll also learn basic roller derby rules and drills (always non-contact!).

Skaters must bring roller skates, helmet, mouth guard, and wrist, elbow and knee pads. The venue also requires that all skaters have white or light toe stoppers, and put strips of white tape (vertically, not horizontally) on your knee pads, or cover them with felt or socks. This is to help avoid marking the floor.

Sessions are $7. Exact change is appreciated.

Raw Meat sessions are always non-contact. We have only two rules: 1. Be safe, 2. Don’t be an ass-hat.

See you Saturday!
