Raw Meat Roller Skating April 12: Last Day at Thunderbird Until Fall!

Hello, Everybody!

Come join us on Saturday, April 12 from 5 to 7 PM for our last session at Thunderbird Community Centre (2311 Cassiar St.) until fall 2014. All levels of roller skater from beginner to expert are welcome. We’ll get you in seawall skating shape in no time.

Next week, April 19: new time, new venue!

Starting next week, April 19, we’ll be at Royal City Curling Club, 75 East 6th Avenue in New Westminster, from 10-12 AM every Saturday all summer. In fall, we’ll return to Thunderbird, date TBD.

Please note: in past years, we’ve run two sessions on Saturdays through the summer. This year, we’re just running one session, and everyone is welcome! All levels of skater from beginner to advanced are welcome, no testing is necessary.

Don’t worry—we’ll still kick your ass if you are an expert, and treat you gently if you are beginner. The space at RCCC is large enough to split into two groups, so everyone will be challenged, don’t you worry.

So, this Saturday, join us to say good bye to Thunderbird for the summer, and next Saturday, join us to kick off another fabulous summer of skating at RCCC!

What you’ll learn at Raw Meat Roller Skating

At Raw Meat, we teach roller skating, roller derby style. Whether you have ambitions to skate in the world cup of roller derby, or you just want to hold your own against the tourists on the seawall this summer, we can teach you the roller skating skills you need to know. Each session features a variety of roller skating skills and roller derby drills, including: stops, falls, agility, jumping, weaving, skating in pace line, skating in a pack, positional blocking, and more.

All Raw Meat sessions are non-contact, so you can get a taste of derby without the hits.

All levels of roller skater are welcome, from beginner to expert.

What to bring to Raw Meat Roller Skating

All skaters must have roller skates (quad skates), helmet, mouth guard, and wrist, elbow and knee pads, no exceptions. The venue requires all toe stops be white or light, and all black knee and elbow pads to be covered in white or light coloured tape. This is to prevent black marks on the floor.

Sessions are $7. Exact change is appreciated.

The Rules of Raw Meat Roller Skating

We only have two rules: 1. Be safe. 2. Don’t be an ass-hat.
